East Pico Safety Study: Share Your Experience
The City of Santa Monica invites you to use this interactive map to pinpoint specific locations where you’ve observed challenges such as difficult pedestrian crossings, speeding, or risky roadway behaviors. Your feedback will play a crucial role in enhancing pedestrian safety and comfort for everyone.
About The East Pico Safety Project
The East Pico Boulevard Safety Project aims to enhance pedestrian safety on Pico Boulevard between 27th Street and Centinela Avenue. This project will assess current roadway conditions and engage the public to address safety issues and ensure access to essential destinations. The project will result in the implementation of quick build pedestrian improvements, that will offer community members an opportunity to experience the enhancements first-hand and provide feedback to City staff to ensure the long-term improvements meet the community’s needs and vision.
The goals of the project are to:
Improve Roadway Safety
Identify the factors contributing to roadway collisions and propose improvements that address the contributing factors.
Enhance the Pedestrian Experience
Outline treatments that enhance pedestrian safety, comfort, and access while amplifying the corridor’s sense of community space.
Strengthen Community Identity
Engage with a broad representation of the community, ensuring key stakeholders are informed and heard, and create spaces that reflect the culture and identity of local residents and businesses.
Build Public Spaces
Promote opportunities to create public space along the corridor, incorporating street furniture and sidewalk extension applications, and explore opportunities for businesses to increase their footprint.
